Anti-Doping Letter
Dear Athletes and Coaches,
Â
Please remember that the Irish Powerlifting Federation is wholly committed to ensuring that the integrity of the sport is maintained by enforcing strict doping control systems, in line with World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
The WADA Code is available here: https://www.wada-ama.org/sites/default/files/resources/files/2021_wada_code.pdf
Â
The Code boils down to one very simple principle of strict liability:
If it is in your body, you are responsible for it.
Â
The Prohibited List for 2022 is available here: https://www.wada-ama.org/sites/default/files/2022-01/2022list_final_en_0.pdf
Â
The IPF have confirmed that two options exist for athletes requiring a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE).
1. Not applying for an IPF TUE at the moment. When there is an Adverse Analytical Finding (AAF), then the athlete can apply for a retroactive TUE from IPF. Necessary medical reports from the treating doctor must be attached.
2. Apply for an IPF TUE in advance. There is a charge of €100. Necessary medical reports from the treating doctor must be attached.
Â
If you require a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE), please find the form here: http://www.irishpowerliftingfederation.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/tue_application_form_20181122_en-.docx
Â
Further information on information required for TUEs can be found on the WADA website:Â https://www.wada-ama.org/en/resources/therapeutic-use-exemption
Â
If you are uncertain about a medication or supplement then please get in touch with Jayne Jones, the IPF’s Anti-Doping Officer, by email (antidoping@irishpowerliftingfederation.com) and she will do her best to give you accurate information.
Â
Happy Lifting.
